Gazprom Neft adopts a new long-term strategy which should see the company become a global industry benchmark in terms of efficiency, technological inventiveness, and safety. Its strategic goals also include the company strengthening its position among the world’s top-10 largest public oil and gas companies by liquid-hydrocarbon production, improving refining depth (the «conversion factor»), and becoming a world top-10 company in aviation and in producing lubricants and innovative bitumen materials.
Gazprom Neft finishes developing its own Arctic fleet, comprising six Arc7 Shturman-series tankers, designed and built to order, and two cutting-edge icebreakers — the Alexander Sannikov and the Andrey Vilkitsky — making it possible for the company to deliver oil from its Arctic Circle fields to the global market as competitively as possible, all year round.
A major field is discovered offshore from Sakhalin Island and named the «Triton» field. Reserves in place at this new field are estimated at more than 137 million tonnes of oil equivalent (mtoe). This follows the company’s discovery a year earlier, again offshore from Sakhalin Island, of the Neptune field, where following full analysis of data obtained the year before reserves in place are increased 1.6-fold, to 415.8 million tonnes of oil.
Gazprom Neft, Mubadal Petroleum (UAE) and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) create a joint venture through Gazpromneft-Vostok to develop fields in the Tomsk and Omsk Oblasts. This joint venture is also given the separate task of finding technologies to develop pre-Jurassic reserves. The partners also consider options for expanding their cooperation, on new projects in Russia and the Middle East.
Gazprom Neft becomes the first company in Russian aviation to refuel craft using «distributed registers», or «blockchain — Gazpromneft-Aero having developed and introduced «aviation-fuel smart contracts (AFSC)» together with S7 airlines, which was then able to pay for fuel instantly on planes being refuelled, with no need for pre-payments or bank guarantees, and with no financial risk.
